  • Westerly Fulmar Fin Keel 1989 - FOR SALE - £26,500

Aspire of Brixham is currently afloat at Weir Quay Boatyard situated on the beautiful River Tamar above Plymouth.

This is an extremely reluctant sale but all offers will be seriously considered. Due to personal injuries Aspire has been barely used for the last 2 years but she has been kept aired and basic essential maintenance has been carried out to preserve her engine and systems in good working order. She does therefore require some external cleaning and tidying and represents a great opportunity for someone to acquire a sound example and add some real value with a little input.

Aspire is a on the UK Register of Shipping and is VAT paid.

(All details are approximate, Aspire is a standard boat, but please satisfy yourself as to the exact dimensions, specification and description as nothing contained here shall constitute a part of a contract for sale / purchase)

I have owned Aspire since 1999. In that time she has received constant attention from myself and been improved in various ways. Arranged most recent first, the following lists some of the maintenance and updates which have been carried out.

    New Selden mast
(The original Kemp mast suffered the usual joint corrosion which was identified in a routine inspection)
New mast fittings / blocks, as required
    New mast wiring
    Cockpit anti-slip repainted with Treadcoat
    New style Selden boom
    New gas regulator and pipe
New JVC Radio / Cassette / 10 CD Changer
    Rewiring to Chart table area.
    Rewiring to Mikuni Diesel Heater
    Addition of 'Lazy Jacks'
    2 speed continuous mainsheet tackle
Cylinder Head service (de-coke, de-scale waterways, service injectors, re-grind valves)
    Second new battery
    New, higher output alternator
New, Halyard, oil filled, leak-proof stern gland
    New fuel tank
    Service rope cutter
Pulpit and pushpit removed and re-sealed
Stanchions replaced with new pattern S/S fittings and bases reinforced
    New guard wires
    New jackstays
    New battery
    Replaced one bulkhead compass
    Stemhead fitting refurbished and re-bedded
    New self-tailing mainsheet winches
New Main Sail by Sanders (Lymington) Lens foot, full top batten, long lowers
New Furling headsail by Kemps (Wareham)
    New Rotostay headsail furling system
    New standing and running riging
All windows dismantled, refurbished and rebedded
    Interior woodwork sanded and re-varnished
New Plastimo cooker (2 burner, grill and oven)
    New matching cockpit tent
    New sprayhood
    All interior headlining replaced
    New interior lights
    New interior upholstery and curtains
    New Blakes seacocks for heads
All inlet / outlet ball valves replaced
Preventative epoxy treatment to underwater section (as advised by my surveyor on purchase as she was totally 'dry')

Clearly as a consequence of the new mast, the existing standing rigging was inspected thoroughly by ALLSPARS, the local SELDEN agent in April 2007.

As a prospective purchaser you may wish to consider the following that could be easily improved by a practical owner at little cost:
She requires a new log transducer (they regularly appear on e-Bay), and the wind direction indicator requires repairing (spare in bosuns bag, requires minor machine work to install as pivot shaft has sheared off the transducer).
All service or date stamped items should be considered out of date (though probably useful) eg flare pack, liferaft and hydrostatic release, fire extinguishers (all of the servicable type).
She would benefit from some attention to a few areas of woodwork / fittings below.
The non-slip deck paint requires flaked areas patching then a complete re-coat at some stage.
Some cosmetic gel-coat repairs to topsides and deck areas
